Hotel Metanoia – Ubud, Bali
The Hotel Metanoia Project is a hospitality development located in the lush highlands of Ubud, Bali — designed for a foreign client seeking a luxury retreat that harmonizes structural integrity with architectural artistry.
As the Structural Engineer and BIM Modeler, my team and I were responsible for performing a full-scale structural analysis, load-path study, and 3D BIM coordination, ensuring that every element of the hotel’s structure supported its open-plan, minimalist design.
We began by analyzing gravity and seismic loads using ETABS, focusing on slender reinforced concrete elements designed to achieve both strength and architectural transparency. The foundation system — a combination of isolated and combined footings — was optimized for uneven terrain, ensuring both cost efficiency and structural stability.
In Autodesk Revit, our team developed a detailed 3D model integrating structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines. This model served as the central coordination platform, enabling early clash detection and reducing construction-phase conflicts. The result was a structurally efficient and visually refined building that reflects both Bali’s cultural softness and engineering precision
